Covered Patio Construction in Nashville, TN

Shade in July. Dry in April.

An uncovered patio in Middle Tennessee is usable maybe a third of the year. Put a roof on it and it becomes a room you use most days.

Covered Patio Construction project by Black Oak Property Services in Nashville

The engineering matters: the new roof has to tie into the existing structure without creating a leak path, and the posts and beams have to carry real load, not just look substantial.

We build covered patios with proper flashing, matched roofing, and finished ceilings — not exposed framing left to weather.

What's included

  • Roof structure tied into the existing home
  • Matched shingle or metal roofing
  • Finished tongue-and-groove or beadboard ceilings
  • Recessed lighting and ceiling fan wiring
  • Concrete or paver patio surfaces
  • Outdoor kitchen and grill station rough-ins

Covered Patio Construction questions we get asked

Covered patio or screened porch?

A covered patio keeps the open feel and costs less. A screened porch keeps the bugs out and extends the season further. We build both — the choice usually comes down to how much you'll use it in the evening.

Will a covered patio darken my house?

It can. We plan roof pitch, depth, and whether to add skylights based on which windows it shades.

Does it need a permit?

Yes — it's a structural roof addition. We handle the drawings and permit.
